SERENITY AT SUNSET

The Story:

“Shabbos came, rest came.” As the sun sets on Friday evening, the peace and restfulness of Shabbos descend on our homes. After the world was created in six days, when discussing Shabbos, the Torah states, “And God completed…” In explaining the use of the word “and”, Rashi, a primary commentator on the Torah, comments that rest was one of God’s creations. The rest that God created completed Creation. Every week, we look forward to the rest of Shabbos, the tranquility of stopping our normal routines with their demands and stresses, and we rejoice with the gift of Shabbos. This scene aims to capture some the serenity and peacefulness.
